BEN MCCARTHY (USSF C)
DIRECTOR OF COACHING
Ben McCarthy, originally from Manchester, England, is a highly respected soccer professional who has been at the helm of LSC’s growth since 2014. As Director of Coaching, Ben has been the driving force behind the club’s transformation into one of the top soccer organizations in Chester County. His expertise spans coaching, player development, and mentoring, with a particular focus on empowering both volunteer and professional coaches to elevate their understanding of the game.
Ben’s leadership has been instrumental in shaping the club’s identity, ensuring it remains committed to a community-oriented environment while earning accolades on the field. Under his guidance, LSC teams have earned numerous honors, including State Cup Championships, League Titles, and victories in high-profile tournaments such as WAGS, Bethesda, and the New England Showcase. His strategic vision and relentless pursuit of excellence have cultivated a culture of success that resonates both on and off the field. His passion for the game and dedication to his teams, players, and families were instrumental in him being awarded the EDP Pennsylvania 11v11 Coach of the Year award for the 2025/2026 season.
With a passion for developing players to their highest potential, Ben’s coaching philosophy emphasizes not only skill development but also building confidence and resilience in young athletes. Outside of coaching, Ben enjoys spending time with his family. He resides in Downingtown, PA, with his wife and two children. Their oldest is beginning her soccer journey in the U8 Academy program at Lionville Soccer Club.

KEVIN MURPHY (USSF C)
7v7 DIRECTOR
Kevin Murphy lives in Downingtown, PA and is a USSF C License coach with over a decade of experience in youth soccer development. He brings a well-rounded background in athletic training, psychology, and technical development to his coaching.
Kevin currently serves as the 7v7 Director at Lionville Soccer Club and coaches several teams within the club. His previous experience includes working as the Head Athletic Trainer at Haverford High School and with the Philadelphia Union Youth Soccer Academy. He is also a former certified referee.
He has coached and trained players across multiple platforms, including as a Coerver Soccer Camp Instructor and a youth pro-trainer at United Sports Training Center. Kevin has a partnership with Nike Soccer Camps and collaborates with professional players from Scotland to deliver high-level training to youth athletes.
Outside of soccer, Kevin is a school counselor at Haverford High School, where he enjoys helping students navigate the college admissions process and plan for life after graduation.
A former Delaware ODP player, Kevin captained multiple club teams, was a four-year varsity starter and captain at Christiana High School, and later walked on at West Chester University before focusing on his academic pursuits. He is passionate about developing young athletes both on and off the field.

ANTHONY EELLS (USSF C)
9v9 DIRECTOR
Anthony Eells lives in Downingtown, PA and is a USSF C License coach who currently serves as the 9v9 Director at Lionville Soccer Club. In his role, he focuses on developing the whole player while fostering a competitive environment that drives technical and tactical growth, preparing players for the transition to 11v11 soccer.
Since joining LSC in Spring 2022, Anthony has coached tournament-winning teams, state finalists, and teams that have achieved USYS #1 rankings, along with multiple National League and Regional appearances. He has also supported the development of multiple NCAA Division I and Division III players.
Anthony spent five years as an assistant coach for the Bishop Shanahan boys varsity program, helping guide the team to a state semifinal appearance. A local product, he graduated from Bishop Shanahan High School as part of the 2016 District finalist team and played for FC Continental, where he appeared in a state final, before attending Villanova University.
Outside of soccer, Anthony works in finance at Vanguard, where he brings strong analytical thinking, planning, and attention to detail. These qualities carry over to his coaching, helping him emphasize structure, decision-making, and long-term player development. He values staying connected to the Downingtown community where he was raised and takes pride in giving back through the game that shaped him.

DOUG PUSEY (USSF D)
PRESIDENT
USSF D License. President of Lionville Soccer Club and LYA Board Member since 2016. Grew up in West Chester, PA and played club soccer at West Chester United and collegiate soccer at Gettysburg College, part of the squad that captured the first Centennial Conference title in 1993. Resides in Lionville, PA with his wife and two boys. President of Sterling Kitchen and Bath based in Malvern, PA. Coached the Lionville Jaguars squad from U9 through U19. The squad won the EPYSA Presidents Cup at U17 and were Cup Finalists at U19 after the 2020 cups were canceled due to Covid-19. Trainer for the 2007 Lionville Blast squad. Current coach of the 2009 Boys Galaxy team. Proud to be part of the development of players that currently play collegiate soccer as well as young men that have excelled academically in high school and college. Enjoys playing soccer with his buddies as part of an adult league team competing at United Sports. Tottenham Hotspur supporter.
